1949
Mr Gee started manufacturing square nuts in Hydes Road, Wednesbury.
1952
Harold Powell joined the business, aged 17. His brother Steven joined soon after.
1960
The business moved to Rigby Street, Wednesbury and started producing bolts.
1961
Harold established Powell, Gee & Company Ltd.
1977
Harold was made Mayor of Birmingham.
1985
Harold sold his shares to Steven and David, his son.
1991
Powell Gee started distributing self-drilling screws.
2000
Powell Gee started importing items from Asia.
2003
Ben Powell (David’s son) was appointed Director.
2006
Steven Powell sold his share of the business to the company.
2011
David Powell sold his share of the business to the company.
2016
The offices and warehouse moved to Atcham, with the factory remaining at Rigby Street.
2018
Powell Gee was bought by The Tibbetts Group.
2021
Tibbetts Management Team took over from Ben Powell. The offices and Technical dept. moved to Unit 38.
2022
The first injection moulding machine started producing bi-hex head screws. 2 catalogues were launched.
2023
Our new website was launched. A new warehouse management system was implemented.
