Colleague Spotlight: Kate Pengilly, Powell Gee Sales Account Executive

This month, we’re proud to introduce our new Sales Account Executive at Powell Gee, Kate Pengilly. Kate’s role is all about building strong relationships with existing customers, creating new business opportunities and making sure every customer has a trusted point of contact.

What is your role at The Tibbetts Group?

“My role is Sales Account Executive, and I look after existing customers and bring in new business. I am so lucky to be working with such a fantastic Sales team and everybody is so lovely and friendly.

“I am here to maximise sales opportunities, to become a trusted point of contact, building relationships with my customers.

“We have to be good at problem solving and deliver the best customer service. I am passionate about making sure customers are looked after and supported.”

What does this involve on a day-to-day basis?

“Making calls to bring in new business, prepare quotations, and offer efficient support to my customers. Also to resolve any issues and see if I can improve internal processes.

“Customers need to make sure they have a contact they can trust. The culture here at Powell Gee is the best, and everyone has great work ethic.”

What is your favourite aspect of your role?

“My favourite part of my role is bringing in new business and seeing how challenging it can be from making a cold call, into establishing a new customer, overseeing a customer’s journey and making long-term loyalty.”

Are there any significant projects which you are currently working on?

“Looking into Agriculture Building and Poultry Housing to sell them a range of our high– quality self-drilling screws.”

What are your future projects or goals?

“My future goals are to excel in this job role, to grow with the business needs, bringing in new ideas, new business and improving internal processes.

“To be happy in my workplace, to be a good wife and mother to my kids.”

Have you worked in this role throughout your career?

“I have been an Account Manager for the last 5 years.

“Before I had children, I was an Operations Manager who ran weddings at a local wedding venue. It was a fortified house which looked like a castle.

“I am also a qualified florist and hairdresser.

“In my last position I was an Account Manager for a company that specialised in waste disposal and environmental management, I worked there for 4 years.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“Outside of work, I really spend a lot of time with my family, however I enjoy the gym and baking cakes with my daughter.

“When on holidays I enjoy playing Uno and Monopoly with the kids (and of course I have to win).

“I also enjoy meeting friends and just chilling on a warm summers evening with my dog and family.”

Do you have a particularly interesting hobby?

“Juggling a family and work is very busy, so the only hobby I have is going to the gym and baking.”

Do you follow a sports team?

“My twins play for Up & Comers Football, so they are the only football team I follow.”

What is your favourite film or television genre?

“My favourite film has to be Gladiator, as my son is named after the main character.

“Unfortunately, when watching films, I am a screamer, flincher, and talker to the infuriation of my husband!”

Do you have a particular favourite film or TV series?

“Loved Rivals on Disney, which is from The Jilly Cooper books – absolutely hilarious.

“I also enjoy all Bridget Jones Films.”

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

“As a family growing up, we always went to Alderney (Channel Island) which holds a sentimental family tie, and I was also proposed on the Island, so really holds a special place to my heart.

“Also, Abersoch in Gwynedd North Wales holds an unbreakable bond, and special place for holidays with my children.”

What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?

“I have tried indoor skydiving, so I would love to try freefalling.

“I would also like to windsurf and be a natural when it comes to paddleboarding.”
